Brady Council Approves Permit for Gaming Room, Purchase of Backhoe; Hears Financial Report

The City of Brady met for a regular session on Tuesday night with a light agenda to consider. City Finance Director Lisa McElrath presented Council with the 1st quarter financial report for FY 2026. Council also held a public hearing on a request for a special use provision for Entertainment Use (gaming room) located at 212 N Church St in the Central Business District. No came forward to speak for or against the request.

Under action items, the Council approved awarding a bid of $126,550 to ASCO Equipment in San Angelo for the purchase a Case 580SV Backhoe,  approved the first reading of Ordinances 1406 amending the FY 2026 budget for municipal purposes including $18,000 in funding for a cardboard recycling baler which would be a 100% grant from the Concho Valley Council of Governments.  Also approved was the first reading of Ordinance 1407 for a special use provision for a gaming room at 212 N Church St.

Council wrapped up the regular agenda by discussing the opportunity for the Brady Youth Sports Foundation to host regional baseball tournaments. After completing the regular agenda items, Council then moved into Executive Session for consultation with the City Attorney concerning contemplated litigation, discuss duties and recommendations of the City Manager and discuss progress regarding the Police and Fire stations. The next City Council meeting will be on Feb. 3, 2026.
