Brady, Texas 03/16/2026 – Investigators with the Brady Police Department and Texas Rangers have executed a search warrant to obtain a DNA sample as part of the continuing investigation into a case that occurred five years ago, relating to the human remains found at Brady Lake.
The warrant was carried out in accordance with state law. The DNA sample will be submitted for forensic analysis and compared with evidence previously collected during the original investigation.
The case has remained open since the incident occurred in 2021, and investigators have continued to review evidence and pursue investigative leads. Advances in forensic technology and ongoing investigative efforts have provided new opportunities to examine evidence and further the investigation.
Officials emphasize that obtaining the DNA sample is a standard investigative step and does not imply guilt. The results of the forensic testing will be evaluated alongside other evidence as investigators work to determine whether any other connections exist.
“This investigation has remained a priority for our department,” said Chief Randy Batten. “The execution of this search warrant is part of our continued effort to seek answers and pursue justice in this case.”
Because the investigation remains active, additional details cannot be released at this time. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
