August Sales Tax Rebates Lower For Most Area Counties

Texas Controller Kelly Hancock announced the State will distribute $1.4 billion in sales tax rebates to Texas Cities and Counties in the month of August — 13.6% percent more than in August of 2025.

However, for most counties in this area, sales tax rebates in August are lower than last year.

McCulloch County sales tax rebates in August are down 12% at $177,000, and flat on a year-to-date basis at $1.4 million. Within McCulloch County, the City of Brady’s tax rebate for August is off 12% at $121,000. For the year, Brady’s rebate is flat at $969,000.

Mason County’s rebate in August is up 16% at $40,000, and up 8% for the year at $310,000.

The Menard County rebate is $37,000 — flat with August of 2025. Year-to-date, Menard’s rebate is $296,000 — up 7%.

San Saba County’s August rebate is $99,000, down 30% from last year. Year-to-date, however, San Saba’s rebate is up 11% at $1 million.
