Are you the type of gardener who can bury a twig in the dirt and grow a tree? Or are you the type of gardener who buys plants that struggle and die and then buys more plants that struggle and die? If you belong to either group, maybe the Master Gardener certification class is for you.
Ask yourself these questions:
Do you want to learn more about the culture and maintenance of many types of plants?
Are you eager to participate in a practical and intense training program?
Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge with people?
Can you allocate time to attend training (10 weeks on Tuesdays) and complete 50 volunteer service hour requirements?
Do you have special interests that could benefit the community or an interest in developing one? (i.e. bird or butterfly knowledge, native gardens, wildflowers, etc.)
Do you have a sincere interest in nature or gardening?
If you answered “yes” to these questions, let’s get you signed up. Send an email to [email protected] to request detailed application instructions.
The fee for the class is $200, which includes the Texas Master Gardener handbook, 50 hours of classroom instruction and field trips, a soil test, and hands-on activities. There is a discount for couples who agree to share the handbook.
Classes will be held at the McCulloch County Extension Office every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning February 17 and continuing through April 28, except that there will be no class on March 10.
Deadline for application and payment is February 4, 2026 at 5 p.m., so don’t delay! We want to hear from you today!
