I’d like to nominate my daughter, Mari Winward Vaughn, for your First Responder award. At the tender age 17, instead of shopping at the mall with her girlfriends, she joined the Reno and La Junta, TX volunteer Fire Departments in an effort to help and serve others. Her summers were devoted to fire training she knew she wanted to move up to a career in EMS and Nursing. With continued training she has several certifications in EMS and is a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Mari views her work as a calling from the Lord and is both loving and compassionate to those she cares for. She is married with 5 daughters of her own now and is currently working at the Heart of Texas Hospital in Brady, Tx as an LVN, and Mason County EMS as an EMT along with helping out with other EMS services in the area as needed. She is generous and selfless with her time and talent as a first responder. She is an amazing woman and I can’t be more proud of her.
