The playground at Brady Lake will soon have new equipment thanks to a $12,713 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority.
LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program grant, along with $3,178 in matching funds from the City of Brady, will pay for a new swing set, slide and material to cover the ground around the equipment.
“The playground equipment is unsafe,” said Erin Corbell, Brady city manager. “We still have a metal slide, and those just don’t meet safety standards anymore. Imagine Texas sun on a metal slide and how dangerous that can be during the summer. We also will be replacing the material that is on the ground around the equipment to be more compliant with safety regulations and standards.”
Corbell said Brady Lake is a popular spot for family vacationing. It has several cabanas and cabins available for rent, along with RV hookups. There also is a large pavilion, restrooms with showers, tent sites, picnic areas, lake access and more.
“We see a lot of families visiting and using the facilities, especially on the weekends,” Corbell said. “The new playground equipment will encourage more outdoor play for the youth that are visiting, and it’s an additional benefit to the folks who are drawn to the lake.”
She said this project has been on her radar for the past couple of years.
“We are really grateful to LCRA for the opportunity, and we look forward to getting the new equipment installed,” Corbell said.
