At their meeting Tuesday night, the Brady City Council’s first action was consideration of a resolution to request financial assistance from the Texas Water Development Board Economically Distressed Areas Program. The City had previously received funds through this program for construction of the new water treatment facility and upgrading the City’s water distribution system. The request being contemplated by the Council would be for $2,500,000 for planning, design and construction replacement water lines, restoration of residential service connections and the addition of new fire hydrants. Approval of the resolution authorizes the staff to proceed with preparation of the application.
Also on the Council agenda was a discussion and a vote for or against the City’s proposed tax rate.
The Council also act to remove from consideration a proposed employee benefit package for fiscal year 2024.
The Council meeting concluded with an Executive Session that included discussion with the City Attorney of contemplated litigation and deliberations about real property — specifically the G. Rollie White Complex and 480 acres at Brady Lake.
