Orlando Rubio Honored With Brady Chamber Lifetime Achievement Award

At their annual awards banquet Thursday  night, the  Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce recognized Orlando Rubio as a life-long Brady resident who has unselfishly devoted himself to helping others.
For over 30 years, Rubio has loyally provided direction, coaching, support and then as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 425 in Brady.  In addition to his work with dozens of young men in the community, Rubio was instrumental in helping 34 Scouts from Troop 425 earn the rank of Eagle Scout. ‘
Rubio was also recognized for his work with the local Rotary Club, and as a volunteer to other organizations and events such as the World Championship Goat Cook-Off.
The annual Chamber awards celebration is an opportunity to thank their members, celebrate successes of the past year, and recognize outstanding citizens that have made a difference in McCulloch County.
The Chamber’s Citizen of the Year Award was presented to a couple — Brent and Kaci Rabion — for their efforts over the past year for improvements to buildings on both North and South Bridge Street, and for their support of the annual Smoke on the Hill event that raises money for local volunteer fire departments.
Other awards presented at the Banquet included:
Heath Reagon was named as The Outstanding Educator of the Year who was described as a fixture in the Brady ISD for over 20 years who had worn lots of hats and had made an impact on the District.  He has coached multiple sports, but is perhaps best known for the success of the Powerlifting Squad.
Named as the Distinguished Public Servant of the Year was Precinct 2 McCulloch County Commissioner Randy Deans.
Selected as the Chamber Director of the Year was Denise Jordan. Named as the Chamber Volunteer of the Year was her son, Gavin Jordan.
The Award for AgriBusiness of the Year was presented to Kim Keyser who operates Fairweather Farm.
Keith Ace Hardware and its manager, Monte Owen, was recognized as the Business of the Year.
The Brady Youth Sports Foundation was the recipient of the Outstanding Community Organization award.
