The City of Brady received very welcome news on Monday morning as city officials were advised that the Texas Water Development Board has approved the city’s request for funding. The city will receive a $4,226,000 grant from the Rural Water Assistance Fund (RWAF) for water line replacement with the city contributing $475,000 in funding towards the water improvements project. By replacing the older, undersized, and dilapidated water lines the City will save precious treated water and eliminate the high maintenance associated with these older water lines.  City Public Works Director Steven Miller stated that these funds will be used to replace under sized water lines in the area of Crothers, N. Walnut and N Davidson on Brady’s north side.  Along with waterline replacement, a portion of the funding will go to provide groundwater from Well 4 to the golf course for irrigation purposes rather than having to use treated water.

Enprotec, Hibbs and Todd (eHT) of Abilene who has been instrumental in assisting the City of Brady on past projects, will provide application assistance and will be providing planning, design, and construction phase services for both of these projects in Brady. Combined, these two projects will save thousands of gallons of treated water per day which is the primary goal of Proposition 6 via the Texas Water Fund administered by the TWDB.
