For long-time Brady barber, Guy Phillips, Thursday was his last day to cut hair. After 50 years, Phillips officially retired from the profession on Thursday, April 10th.
Phillips began his career in Brady in April of 1975. Looking back, he said it had been both interesting and, at times, entertaining. In addition to his time as a barber in Brady, Phillips also served in the U.S. Navy on several ships operating in the Pacific during the Vietnam era. And, while in the Navy, he also served as a shipboard barber.
In addition to a career as a barber, Phillips has also spent his life working the family farm in Lohn.
Asked what prompted him to retire now, Phillips said his body was telling him kit was time.
