Kitt Polk, of Bandera, captured the Grand Champion title at the 20th Annual Smoke on the Hill Cook-Off held Saturday at Richards Park in Brady.

With 70 cooking teams competing, Polk won the First Place trophy for both Ribs and Brisket to take the Grand Champion title. Polk told KNEL its was a tough competition, with a lot of good cooks participating.  He said that when he saw the level of competitors in the Cook-Off, he had some doubts about being able to win the title.

The winner of last year’s Chicken competition, Albert Valdez,  told us the level of competition this year was really good, with a lot of great Bar-B-Que cooks here from all over.

The 20th Annual Smoke on the Hill Cook-Off benefitted the Brady Volunteer Fire Department, and Volunteer fire fighters were on hand selling Bar-B-Que plates for contributions that also went to support the local fire fighters.  The Title Sponsor of the Cook-Off was Heart of Texas Restoration

Also included in the day’s activities a Corn Hole Tournament, as well a number of vendors selling a wide variety of items.

Cook-Off activities concluded with entertainment provided by Matt Hartman and Buck Ruffalo, with Parker Ryan as the featured entertainer.  And, in the midst of the entertainment, there was an auction featuring such items and guided hunts and rifles.
