Brady Council Approves Purchase Of 200 Acres Adjacent To Landfill

In a short Special Session Monday afternoon, the members of the Brady City Council voted to approve the City’s purchase of 216 acres located on Highway 87 N adjacent to the City Landfill.

City officials indicated the purchase of the property will solve a relatively near-term issue for the City. That issue is that the current landfill will be reaching its limit within the next five-to-six years.  The purchase of the over-200 tract will, in turn, provide a very long-term solution to the problem and assure the City will have a landfill with a life expectancy of well in excess of 50 years.

The price to be paid by the City for the property is approximately $1 million, and was a fairly recent development with the transaction moving rapidly once negotiations began.
