The Brady City Council met for a regular meeting on Tuesday night at the Municipal Court building and had several items to consider. Council member Ledezma was not able to attend. Following approval of the consent agenda, Council awarded a bid to Bond Equipment Company, Inc., Dallas, TX for the purchase of a 2026 Labrie Side Load Trash Truck in the amount of $420,155. Council also approved Resolution 2026-013 to enter into a finance contract with Government Capital Corporation for a total principal amount not to exceed $405,000 to procure the Side Load Residential Trash Truck. Next up was the awarding of a bid for construction services to local Brady contractor Hanna Concrete & Oil Field Services Inc., for the Calf Creek Water Main Improvement Project in amount of $126,223.00.
By a 3-0 vote with Councilmen Owens abstaining, Council opted to table approval for the EDC loan in the amount $14,884.34 for Brady Chiropractic so that council members can review the agreement and ensure that terms are clear before taking final action at the next council meeting. A lengthy discussion was held over proposed cost estimates for the Fire Station and Senior Center projects amongst the Council, Staff and Brad Isbel with Eikon Consulting who joined the discussion via Zoom. Following that discussion, Council voted 4-0 to go with Option 2 which involves the city issuing a Certificate of Obligation (CO) in the amount of $8,450,000 and to pay cash for the Senior Center project. Council then discussed a number of funding options for the Fire Station/Senior Center projects but deferred taking any action until a later date.
Other action taken by Council was approving the second and final reading of Ordinance 1421 to establish child safety zones and regulations within the Brady city limits and approving the appointment of Charles Bush to fill the remaining vacant position on the Brady EDC board.
The next Brady City Council meeting will be on October 20, 2026 at 6PM.
