At their Special Meeting Tuesday night, the Brady City Council voted to extend the contract with Interim City Manager Barbara Holly through May 11th. Originally, the City’;s contract with her was set to end on March 11th. The extension in the time the Interim City Manager will be in Brady will provide for a transition period after the new City Manager, James Stewart, begins work on March 11th.
Also at their Tuesday meeting, the Brady Council discussed proposal related to settling on a definition of the City’s Vision and Mission Statements, but they did not settle on any particular language.
Interim City Manager Holly reported on EMS developments following the decision reached by the Council at their last meeting that the City would not provide EMS service to the City of Melvin if they do no agree to pay for the service. Appearing on KNEL’s Morning Program, Mayor Tony Groves noted that County Judge Frank Trull reported the Countyh had found that State law prohibits the County from pay for EMS services in an incorporated area inside a county. Mayor Groves indicate they are looking at some alternative ways Melvin resident might be able to use the EMS services, but not decisions have been made. That means, he said, there has been no change in statjus between the City of Brady and the City of Melvin.
