At its meeting Tuesday night, the Brady City Council will be discussing a request by Council Members Gabe Moreno and Terry Phillips that the Council finalize the choice of 209 S, Elm as the location for the new Fire Station being planned for the City.
During a Brady City Council meeting last month, the issue of alternative locations for the new Fire/EMS facility was discussed. The Council was considering authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement for professional services with Maker’s Design Collaborative to develop design plans and specifications for the new facility and that three potential alternative sites be evaluated.
At that meeting, Council Member Moreno emphasized his position that a previous Council had voted to locate the new Fire/EMS station at the 209 Elm site — the current location for the Brady Police Station. After some discussion, Council approved the agreement by a 3-2 vote with Council Members Raymond Ledezma, Curtis Owens and Vickie Roddie voting for moving ahead with the plan presented by the City Manager, with Council Members Moreno and Phillips voting against.
Other items on the Council agenda will include purchasing new water meters for the City; approving $10,000 for the Heart of Texas Music Festival from the City’s Visitor and Tourism funds; and two requests for zoning changes.
