The Brady Bulldogs came ready to play last Friday night as they dominated the visiting Dublin Lions 62-13 for their first district win. Brady got on the board first with a 13 yard run by Ashton Taylor and shortly thereafter, Dublin picked up their first score to trail the Bulldogs by only one point. Taylor would score once more on a 32 yard run for a touchdown to put Brady up 14-6. In the second quarter, Taylor would intercept a Dublin pass which led to a Johnny Roque touchdown to increase Brady’s lead to 20-6. The Lions then answered with a touchdown of their own narrowing the score to 20-13. On Brady’s next possession, Alijah Stark would scamper for 22 yards for yet another Bulldog touchdown extending Brady’s lead to 27-13 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs exploded for a total of 5 touchdowns with Taylor picking up two touchdowns on 64 yards rushing, Emilio Godinez caught an 8 yard pass from Sean Jacoby in the endzone, Colby Hinton muscled his way for a touchdown on a 3 yard run and Roque scored on an 11 yard run off a pick six. At the end of the third quarter, Brady led 62-13 which would be the final score as neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
Overall, the Bulldogs had 460 yards rushing on the night with Ashton Taylor picking up 150 yards followed by Alijah Stark with 102 yards and Colby Hinton with 91 yards. Taylor led Brady in scoring with 4 touchdowns for 24 points, followed by Stark with 2 touchdowns for 12 points. Benjamin Valdez had a great night as he went 7 of 9 on extra point attempts. On defense, Stark caught two interceptions while Taylor, Roque and Dominic Gloria each had one.
The Bulldogs increase their record to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in district. They will host the 0-6 Eastland Mavericks on Friday, October 17 for 7PM kickoff at Bulldog Stadium.
