Groves Unopposed For Brady Mayor, Phillips-Martin Seek Place 1 Council Seat

The filing period for local elections set for May 4th ended at 5pm on Friday, Feb. 16.

Local elections will be for terms expiring this year on area City Councils, City Commissions, School Boards and Hospital Districts.  Early voting will be from April 22nd to 30th.

In Brady, former Mayor Tony Groves was the only person filing for the Mayor’s post, and will now be unopposed in the May 4 election.

Brady’s current Mayor, Aaron Garcia, chose not to seek re-election to the post he won in a special election last year.

Terry Phillips and Chris Martin filed as candidates for the Place 1 City Council post.  Incumbent Larry Land did not seek re-election.

Also on the May 4 ballot for Brady voters will be several proposed changes to the Brady City Charter and authorization by the voters of the sale of the City’s natural gas distribution system.

The Brady ISD will have three positions up for election on the May 4 ballot — Channing Booker from Single Member District 1; Micahael Solis from District 5; and Colby Huffman from District 7.  All three are unopposed in the May 4 election.
