The Brady City Council met for a regular meeting on Tuesday night and began with approval of the consent agenda consisting of approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and street closures for Ladies Night Out on December 4 and for the Christmas in the Heart activities on December 13. Representatives from Verdunity gave a presentation to Council on the development of the new City of Brady Comprehensive Plan 2040 taking in consideration economic prosperity, quality of life and culture and history along with an emphasis on fiscal responsibility, growth management and parks and recreation.  The public hearing for the Comprehensive Plan was tabled until next Council meeting.
Under action items, Council approved a motion to postpone the first reading of Ordinance 1403 to adopt the City of Brady’s Comprehensive Plan 2040 until the second Council meeting of November to allow the Planning and Zoning Commission an opportunity to review the Plan. Council then approved the first reading of Ordinance 1402 to amend the FY 2026 Budget transferring unfinished FY 2025 projects to the FY 2026 Budget cycle. A request was made by staff for an expenditure of $90,000 from the Cemetery Fund to be used towards improving the irrigation system at both Live Oak and Rest Haven cemeteries.
Other action taken by Council was to approve the bid for the Irish Addition Water Main Improvement Project to Harris Road Company of Jarrell, TX in the amount of $146,885, approved distributing the available votes the City has across the board to nominate Reed Williams, Michael Cook and Larry Land to the McCulloch County Appraisal District Board of Directors, and approved allowing alcohol sales at the G Rollie White complex for specific events designed for those 21 and over.
Following the completion of the regular meeting, Council met in Executive Session to deliberate Personnel Matters, Consultation with Attorney and Real Property specifically a partial lot 104 Voca St.
