Demolition Of Old Building On N. Bridge Complete

Once the crews got started, it didn’t take long for the dilapidated old building at 510 N. Bridge to be demolished and removed.

As of Friday, Aug. 2, the building owned by the Central Texas & Colorado River Railway was, for all intent and purposes, gone.

While the building had been considered an eyesore by many people for several years, it was the strong winds that hit the area on May 31st that set its removal in motion.  The wind hand blown part of he building into Bridge Street and caused it to present a danger to adjacent buildings.

The process began in early July with temporary fencing. An asbestos survey was conducted, and the asbestos remediation process was completed ahead of schedule in late July.

The overall project was scheduled to be complete by mid-August, but, there again, things moved faster than had been thought, and it has now been mostly removed.
