In the Nov. 5 General Election, voters across the Heart of Texas and Northwest Hill Country gave strong support to Republican candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz — with both receiving over 80% of the vote from area residents.
Statewide, Trump received 5.3 million, or 56%, of the total vote, while Kamal Harris received 4 million votes, or 42% of the vote total.
On a more local level, voters in the race for 53rd District for Texas State Representative, Brady resident Wes Virdell was elected with 49,137, defeating challenger Joe P. Herrara who received 13,139 votes.
In McCulloch County, Precinct 1 County Commissioner Carol Anderson was re-elected to her post, receiving 860 votes, defeating write-in candidate Karl Friederich who received a total 102 votes.
In McCulloch County —
- Presidental candidate Donald Trump received a total of 3,024 votes, with Kamala Harris getting 454 votes.
- Incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz received 2,930 votes, with Democrat challenger Collen Allred receiving 496 votes.
- In the race for State Representative District 53, Wes Virdell received 2,965 in his home County, with Democratic candidate Herrara getting 431 votes and LIbertarian Hill receiving 42 votes.
- In Rochelle ISD, Proposition A was approved by a 280 to 241 vote. The measure ratified a 4 1/2cent to the District property tax rate for the coming year, bring the total tax to 66.7 cents per $100 valuation.
In Mason County —
– Donald Trump received 2,076 votes, with Kamala Harris receiving 434 votes in the County.
