Three different fires damaged a home, a church and a business in McCulloch County within just the past week.
MEXICAN COLONY – Last weekend, Brady Fire and EMS responded to a report of a large fire in the Mexican Colony. When they arrived, the found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews were able to protect exposures around the fire until a water supply was established. volunteer Fired Depts. from Rochelle and Voca also responded to the fire to provide assistance. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
BRADY – Early Tuesday evening, Brady Fire and EMS responded to a fire at Higginbotham’s Lumber on South Bridge Street in Brady where they found the back of the warehouse fully engulfed in flames.
The preliminary reports are that the back of the warehouse was destroyed, and a portion of the main building received some water damage.
Firefighters had extinguished the fire and left the building just after 10pm Tuesday evening.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is under investigation.
ROCHELLE – Area firefighters responded to a fire at the Rochelle Baptist Church early Thursday morning. The fire began at 2:30am and destreoyed the church’s sanctuary. The adjoining buildings were saved. Cause of the blaze is also under investigation.
Earlier this year, the East Sweden church was also completely destroyed by fire as well. No cause could be determined for how that fire started.
