The Frontera Healthcare Network soon will complete renovations to the Brady Clinic to improve the quality and quantity of services the clinic can provide, thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and City of Brady.
The community grant, along with more than $92,000 in matching funds from the health care network, will help modernize the clinic by adding about 1,800 square feet of space, including five additional exam rooms, a new room for minor procedures, enhanced patient flow areas and a dedicated behavioral health area to improve privacy and access to health care.
The project represents Phase II of the Brady Clinic Master Plan, building on previous improvements and continuing Frontera’s mission to provide high-quality, accessible care in rural McCulloch County. The renovations will enable the clinic to accommodate more patients with a broader range of services and decrease wait times.
“This grant will make a tremendous difference for the Brady community,” said Mikki Hand, CEO of Frontera Healthcare Network. “With these renovations, we’ll be able to expand access to both primary and behavioral health services, serving more than 2,000 patients each year right here at home. In a county where the ratio of patients to providers far exceeds the national average, this investment helps us meet a growing demand for affordable, high-quality care while creating a more modern, welcoming environment for our patients and staff.”
Hand said without the grant, the organization would have had to continue looking for additional funding, delaying the project timeline.

Rural communities deserve high-quality, compassionate care close to home, and this grant brings us one step closer to that vision for McCulloch County.”
This is one of 41 grants awarded recently through LCRA Community Grants. These grants are awarded twice a year as part of LCRA’s effort to give back to communities in its wholesale electric, water and transmission service areas. The City of Brady is one of LCRA’s wholesale electric customers and is a partner in the Community Grants program.
