KNEL is inviting listeners to join us in celebrating America’s 250th Birthday during this July 4th week.

The first thing we ask is that you fly our American Flag all week — not just on the 4th.

Each day during this week, KNEL be airing excerpts of famous speeches in American history during our Morning Program between 8-9am.

And, we’ll include you in our look at America after 250 years.

In addition to a replay of a famous speech, we’ll pose a question on some aspect of America at 250 each day and ask you to text us your response or comment. Then, we’ll read some of the comments we receive on the air the following day during the Morning Program.

This week’s broadcast of famous speeches will begin Monday morning with Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address — considered by many to be the most famous and influential speech in American history.  Our first question for the week will be – “What event in America’s first 250 years makes you the most proud to be an American?”

Text your response to –  325-240-8836.

Speeches from which we’ll be airing excerpts will include Abraham Liincoln’s Gettysburg Address; John F. Kennedy Inagural Address (Ask Not); Martin Luther King “I have A Dream”; Ronald Reagan Farewell Address; and, on Friday, the Declaration of Independence read by President John F. Kennedy.

Join us at KNEL for these reflections by famous Americans and to share your thoughts as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
