It was a special look on Sunday afternoon at the renovations of the elementary wing of Rochelle School for Lynn Farris and Jim Griffin from KNEL Radio as they had the chance to view some of the many upgrades at Rochelle School funded by the school bond passed by the voters residing in Rochelle ISD in 2024. The bulk of the construction centered on the 101 year old elementary wing which has been completely renovated from top to bottom with new floors, plumbing, restrooms, electrical, complete overhaul of classrooms and a new teacher work area. The new configuration of classrooms allows Pre-K students to have their own space inside the elementary wing instead of being in a separate building outside.
Superintendent Dr. Fields provided KNEL a tour of the upgraded facilities and explained that the HVAC systems were upgraded and new wiring run throughout the building to provide for better use of technology devices. He did state that there have been some delays with the Ag Building which is expected to be ready for use by September.
Dr. Fields stated that he expects around 180 students for the start of the 2025-26 school year at Rochelle. One important change he emphasized is that this year school will start at 7:50AM and end at 4:21PM.
