Mason Loses 37-40 To Marlin, Richland Springs Falls 46-60 To Ogelsby

The Mason Punchers and Richland Springs Coyotes were both eliminated from the Texas High School Football Play-Offs Friday night.

In their Regional game Friday night, the Mason Punchers fell behind Marlin early and trailed 7-6 at the end of the first quarter. But, Mason came back in the second quarter with 12 points to lead Marlin 18-13 at the Half.

For the Punchers, turnovers — 2 interceptions and a fumble — combined with four missed extra points were a key factor in the loss.  In the second half, Mason put up 19 additional points, but Marlin added 27 points to their total for the 40-37 win over the Punchers.

Marlin will go up against Ganado in the Regional Quater-Finals.

Richland Springs lost to Oglesby 60-46 in their contest, ending their quest for another state title to add to their extensive collection.  Oglesby willl face Oakwood in the 6-man Semi-Finals.

Other Area Play-Off Scores

Llano defeated Goliad 30-29 and will face Edna in the Quater-Finals

Wall outscored Littlefield 56-21 and will go against Canadian in the Quarter-Finals

Junction defeated Somerville 32-0 and will meet Shiner in the Regional Quarterfinals.

Tolar  lost to Holliday 46-20.
