The Menard Yellowjacket High School Band — the Going Band from Jim Bowie Land — won the State UIL Class 1A Marching Band competition on Tuesday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The Yellowjacket band is composed of 48 Menard High School and Junior High student musicians who earned their trip to the State finals with Division 1 ratings across the board at the Regional contest in San Angelo.
The win by the Yellowjacket Band also won the State Championship just two years ago in 2021.was its second state championship in three years.
Finishing second in State just behind Menard was the Irion County High School band.
