The old bank building in Rochelle experienced a partial collapse in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 29. A significant portion of the southwest wall of the structure gave way and collapsed the front portion of the roof onto the ceiling joists of the first floor. The front of the building was left standing but has been deemed unstable. As a result, TxDOT has placed traffic cones to keep a safe distance between the building and US 190 (Crew Ave). Due to the instability of the structure, no trespassing signs have been posted and no one is allowed on the property.
Many in the Rochelle area remember when the building was known as the Sellman Bank, The building dates back to the early 1910’s.
