A series of reports circulating on Facebook prompted McCulloch County Sheriff Matt Andrews to make an announcement reassuring the public that no inmate had escaped from the McCulloch County jail.
Sheriff Andrews reported he started getting calls early in the afternoon from folk who said they had seen or heard of reports on Facebook that an inmate at the County jail has escaped and was at large.
The Sheriff emphasized there had been no jail break on Thursday. He noted that a count is made every 15 minutes, and all the counts on Thursday showed everybody there.
How the rumor started was unknown, but the Sheriff was certain it wasn’t true.
