Vickie Roddie was officially sworn in Tuesday night as the new Brady City Council member for Place 4 following the canvassing of the vote from the Dec. 13th runoff election in which Roddie defeated challenger Raymond Ledezma.
As a result of the death of Council Member Aaron Garcia, the Council will meet in a Special Session on Dec. 23rd to call a Special Election to fill the remaining term for Place 2 on the Council.
Finance Director Lisa McElrath began the Session with the presentation to Council of the End of Fiscal Year 2025 Financial Report. That was followed by a public hearing on the adoption of the proposed new Brady 2025 Comprehensive Plan, although no one came forward to speak for or against the plan. The Council subsequently approved the first reading of an ordinance to adopt the proposed 2040 Brady Comprehensive Plan.
The Council spent a significant amount of time discussing concerns and complaints by West Texas Gas customers in Brady over increases in billing since the sale of the gas utility by the City.
With all agenda items addressed, Council moved into executive session for deliberations about real property (Police/Fire Station). No Action was taken following the executive session.
