Washington, D.C. — Thursday, Congressman August Pfluger played in the 2022 Congressional Baseball Game for Charity, an annual tradition between Republican and Democrat Members of Congress. A record $1.7 million was raised for charities that serve children and families.
Pfluger played 3rd base and pitched on the Republican team, striking out four Democrats including Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff. He went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. While playing in the field, he had 4 putouts at 1st, including throwing Rep. Eric Swalwell out with a laser from the 3rd baseline.
Pfluger was instrumental in securing a 10-0 Republican win over the Democrats—the first Republican shut-out in 27 years. Pfluger was named MVP of the Republican team.
