The excitement is literally brewing on South Bridge St in Brady as Giddy Up Grind Co. has officially opened their doors this week.
Brady native and owner, Wyatt Dodds, explains that when he and his family moved back to Brady in 2020, they felt compelled to try to start something new. Dodds states “We saw this building for sale on Bridge Street, and it’s a building that has a lot of storied history in the community, and a good friend of mine’s parents owned this in the ’90s, so we decided to pop in and see what was going on and figured this would be a great spot for a coffee shop for the community.”
After acquiring the building in 2021, he worked on it for quite some time. “I’d come in on my lunch breaks, come in after work on weekends, swing a sledgehammer, build things, paint things, and here we are four years later, and we’re in our first week of business, and it’s been a whole lot of fun” “The community’s really shown up to support us, and yeah, people seem to like what we’re doing.” he added.
When asked about the various types of coffee offered at Giddy Up Grind, Dodds commented, “So first and foremost, we place a high focus on the quality of the coffee we produce here.
We are using fair trade organic coffee beans that we acquire from the Texas coffee traders out of Austin. Those are roasted fresh and overnighted to us, and so everything you get here is freshly ground and brewed on the spot.” Coffee options include espresso classics, lattes, and cappuccinos along with a unique in house cold brew that involves a 12 hour extraction process producing a very smooth and very strong cup of cold brew. Also offered is a wonderful drip coffee, along with blended drinks, smoothies and teas.
Dodds adds, “If it’s not on our menu, we are happy to try to make it. We want to be versatile and try to make something that people are gonna love every day.”
Giddy Up Grind Co. is located at 1702 S Bridge St in Brady and is open 6AM-2PM (Mon-Thurs) 6AM-6PM (Fri-Sat) and 7AM-4PM (Sun).
