The 452nd District Attorney, Tonya Ahlschwede, announced last week that 56-year-old Dwight Dean Bowyer, Jr. of McCulloch County was found quilt of the felony offense of Assault Family Violence and sentenced to 40 years in prison.
The assault occurred on Nov. 6, 2023 in Brady when he hit a female member of his household in the face.
The punishment for Bowyee was enhanced from 25 to 40 years because he had been previously convicted of Assault Family Violence in Mason County in 2013 and again in 2020, plus tampering with evidence in Williamson County in 2016.
Following the Court’s assessment of 40-years’ confinement, D.A. Ahlschwede stated that “Our office prosecutes people who hurt members of their families. Consequences have actions, and we stand up and fight for victims of crime.” This sentence, she said, “serves to reinforce to every person in our community that none of us tolerates this type of behavior.”
