When Mason voters go to the polls for the May 2nd local elections, they’ll have a number of choices. They will be voting for candidates for Mayor and City Commission; for a member of the School Board, and they’ll be deciding on the fate of a proposed Bond issue for improvements to Mason School facilities.
Early voting for the City and the School Board elections began April 20 and will run through April 28th.
City of Mason –
Mayor — Two candidates seeking the Mayor’s post – Anna Velez and William Beatty, Jr.
City Commission – Place 1 – Bonnie Riggs
City Commission – Place 3 – John Gammill, Sue Jordan Pledger and Amty Horton Townsend.
Early voting for the City Election will be at Mason City Hall. Voting on Election Day will be at the Eckert Civic Center.
Mason ISD –
Board of Trustees – At Large – Kathryn Martin, John Hills and Joe David Yates
Mason Independent School District Bond Election – Mason voters will be deciding whether or not to approve a $35 million bond issue that is being proposed.
The Bond Issue would provide for —
A new academic building at Mason High School; a new Gym with locker rooms; demolition of the existing Academic Wings and renovation of the existing rool and HVAC.
At Mason Jr. High, a new HVAC in the Gym
Other Projects – New Covered Walkways; Site Circulation & Parking Improvements; and Security Fencing.
Early voting for the School Board and Bond Issue will be at the Mason ISD offices at 200 Ft. McKavitt from 7am-4pm. Election day voting will be at the Eckert Civic Center 7am-7pm.
