The City of Mason announced Wednesday, July 22nd, that a Boil Water Notice has been posted for portions of the City’s public water system.
As a result of a loss of water pressure or no pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires the City of Mason to notify customers to boil their water prior to consumption — washing hands/face, brushing teeth , drinking, etc. Children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria.
The areas in Mason affected by the Boil Water Notice are Blackenbach, Pontotoc St. east of Blackenbach, Ranck, Gooch, Bridge, Hawkins , Loving, Morrow, Cedar, McCollum and Hey Streets..
To ensure destruction of harmful bacteria, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use fpr drinking or haman consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for two minutes.
Once the Boil Water Notice is no longer in effect, the City will notify customers rescinding the notice.
