It was a special occasion on Saturday at the Lohn Tabernacle as the Lohn Volunteer Fire Department celebrated 50 years as a department during their annual fish fry and auction. The original members of the fire department in 1976 included David Huie, Ronnie Moore, Jim Ross and Steve Fischer. Huie was also recognized for being at 99.9% of the fire calls.
Once again, Marvin Morris from Catfish Corner provided the delicious fish and chicken meal with all the fixings that was enjoyed by many in attendance. Prior to the live auction, the annual “Fireman’s Friend Award” was presented to Duke & Jan Williams from Lohn for their support & dedication.
One of the many items up for bids for bids during the live auction was a one of a kind quilt created by Serenity Quilts in Brady that honored the 50th anniversary of the Lohn VFD and this item alone drew a winning bid of 2,500 dollars. The evening concluded with bingo that including several cakes, individual items and gift certificates donated by area businesses. The event was a great success and enjoyed by all who attended.
