Against the backdrop of clear skies, a steady breeze and the Texas heat, Army veteran and Brady native, Cpl. Aubrey Lee Gibson was given a proper burial with full military honors on Friday morning at Resthaven Cemetery.  Several local residents and dignitaries joined with family members to honor a true hero of the Korean War who gave his last full measure on August 12, 1950 at age 19 just shy of his 20th birthday.

The journey home to Brady for Cpl. Gibson began 16 years ago as a result of an intense effort by his grand niece, Jodi Stevens who was able to have his remains positively identified in November of 2025.  He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart for his gallantry in battle.
