City Finance Director Lisa McElrath announces she will be retiring in April of 2027
Tuesday night’s Brady Council meeting brought out a pretty good crowd who had interest in the plans for the new Brady Fire Station under consideration. Several members of Brady Fire/EMS and Brady VFD were on hand as well. Brad Isbel with Eikon Consulting Group spoke before Council regarding the layout of the proposed fire station which is to be built where the current police station now stands.
He indicated that full build out would be in the range of about 8.9 million to possibly 10 million based on today’s cost. He also presented a concept drawing showing how the fire station could be built in phases, with the basics being built first and the remaining areas built as additional funds became available.
Council also fielded a number of questions from the audience ranging from the availability of funds for the project to how asbestos would be addressed during the demolition of the current police station. After a lengthy discussion, there was a 5-0 vote by Council to hold a workshop on Tuesday, September 22 at 5PM at the Municipal Court building to go over the fire station plans in more depth.
In other business, Council adopted the FY 2027 Budget and Tax Rate on Second and final reading and appointed Vicky Roddie to be the Council representative on the city’s investment committee.
