The Brady City Council unanimously approved a request for intervention regarding a proposal for a 765 KV transmission line that would pass close to Curtis Field during Tuesday night’s regular Council meeting.
According to proposals by Oncor/LCRA, one of the more than 100 proposed routes for the proposed 765kV transmission line would cross within a few miles of Curtis Field.Requesting intervention would help to protect the city’s interest in the airport’s future. If desired, the City could also cease participation at any time, depending on facts as they develop.
If constructed, the 765KV line would require large steel lattice towers that can exceed 170 feet in height and require a right-of-way of nearly 200 feet wide, according to project materials filed with the Public Utility Commission.
In other action, Council approved the second and final reading of ordinances allowing for an Specific Use Permit for a concrete batch plant for property at 2500 S. Bridge Street and a caretaker or guard residence for property located at 1508 S. Blackburn St. Following the regular meeting, Council met for a short Executive Session to consult with th City Attorney and to discuss real property in regards to the Police/Fire Station. The next Brady City Council meeting will be on May 19, 2026 at 6PM.
