Mason Mayor Frank Bartlett and the City Commission have scheduled a Town Hall meeting for 5:30pm on Thursday, June 1 at the Eckert Civic Center to provide local residents with information on the City’s plans to pursue a Texas Department of Transportation grant to repair and replace sidewalks around the downtown square.

The City has indicated an engineer will be on site to better inform the community of the City’s plans for pursuing a $4 million grant for  rehabilitation of the sidewalks around the Courthouse Square, plus the addition of ramps and steps as well as safe routes to the main school campus.

Mayor Bartlett has noted the plan would provide for sidewalks that are more accessible and safer than the current sidewalks.

In addition to providing the public with information on the goals of the proposed grant, Mayor Bartlett also points out the meeting is a means for local citizens to express their support for the project. The Mayor emphasizes it is especially important for the public to show their support for the project.   In addition to attending, Mason residents are being asked to fill out special Citizen Support Forms and submit them in advance or at the meeting on Thursday.
