The Brady City Council met for a regular session on Tuesday night with having only a few items to consider. Prior to the meeting, Council Member Felix Gomez resigned his Council seat effective immediately. During public comments, Golf Course Superintendent Scott (Rusty) Bush announced to the Council that he too had tended his resignation to the city.
After approving the consent agenda, Council then held a public hearing regarding the proposed FY budget for 2025-26 but no one came forward with any comments. Next, Council approved the first reading of Ordinance 1399 to adopt the FY 2025-26 Budget by a unanimous roll call vote. Next was a public hearing on the proposed 2025 tax rate in which no public comment was given, Council then unanimously approved by a roll call vote the first reading of Ordinance 1400 setting the tax rate for 2025 at .337476 per $100 of valuation.
Council then approved the second reading of Ordinance 1397 to assign the rights to operate and maintain the natural gas distribution system of the city to West Texas Gas Utility, LLC of Midland, TX and establishing a finance fee. Other items approved were the first reading of Ordinance 1401 regarding the city’s utility rates and fee schedule for city services for 2025 and the second and final reading of Ordinance 1398 to designate truck routes with the removal of West White St from the list of approved routes. With no further regular business, Mayor Groves recessed the meeting at 6:45PM and Council held a very brief Executive Session with no action taken.
