The 97th annual Mason County Junior Stock Show and Expo got underway with the Cattle Show on Wednesday, followed by the Swine, Sheep and Goat Shows on Thursday.
In the Cattle Show on Wednesday afternoon, the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Breeding Heifers were exhibited by Jarrett Worrell.
In the Steer Show, the Champion American Breed was shown by John Finn, with the Reserve Champion exhibited by Hunter Bradley. The Champion British steer was exhibited by Jay Ahlschwede, with Bronwyn Underwood showing the Reserve Champion.
The steer exhibited by Dakota Martin in the All Other Breeds category was selected as the breed Champion and subsequently chosen as the Grand Champion steer at the Show. And, the Reserve Champion AOB shown by Sophie Ahlschwede was also selected as the Reserve Grand Champion market steer.
Thursday activities began at 8:00am with the Swine Show.
The Champion Duroc was shown by Galen Langehennig, with Janice Miller exhibiting the Reserve Champion. Dakota Martin exhibited the Champion Hampshire, with O’Brien Underwood showing the Reserve Champion. The Champion in the All Other Breed Category was shown by Olivia Langehennig, and the Reserve Champion was shown by Ruby Osbourn. The Champion Light Cross was shown by O’Brien Underwood, with the Reserve Champion shown by Frankie Bolley.
The Grand Champion Market hog was the 221lb. Hampshire exhibited by Dakota Martin. The Reserve Grand Champion was the 189lb Light Cross shown by O’Brien Underwood.
The Sheep Show and the Goat Show were scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
On the schedule for Friday is the Food and Nutrition interviews and judging the Ag Mechanics projects at 8am, with the Fastest torch contest set for 3pm.
The Buyers Reception will be at 4pm, the Awards Ceremony at 5:30pm and the Premium Sale is set to begin at 6:00pm.
