In respsonse to the death of Brady City Council Member, Aaron Garcia, in December, the Brady City Council met on December to call a Special Election fro February 12th to fill the Place 4 Council vacancy.
The City Charter requires that a Special Election be held within 120 days from the time the vacnacy occurs. Also, State of Texas election laws prohibit holding a special election within 30 days of the Primary Election set for March 3rd. To meet those requjirements, the Council set the date for the Special Election for Feb. 12; set a filing period for potential candidates from Dec. 24 through Jan. 5; and set the Early Voting period to run from Jan. 26 through Feb. 6.
The person elected to the Council in the Special Election will serve out the remainder of the unexpired term of Councilman Garcia.
Both Early and Election Day voting will be held at Brady City Hall.
