Hyden, Thomas Win Mason City Commission Election Races

In the election for two seats on the Mason City Commission held Saturday, the results were a split — with one incumbent winning re-election, while in the second race, the incumbent was defeated.

In District 2, incumbent David Hyden received 30 votes to defeat challenger Belinda Cantu Hernandez who received a total of 10 votes.

Hyden received 19 votes in early voting and 11 votes on Election Day for the 30 vote total.  Hernandez received 6 votes in early voting and 4 on Election Day for her total of 10 votes.

In the race for District 4, former City Commissioner Annette Thomas received 48 votes to defeat incumbent BC Hardin who received 35 votes.  Hardin had been appointed to the post last year to fill a vacancy on the Commission.

Thomas received 31 votes in early voting and 11 on Election Day for her 48 vote total. Hardin received 29 votes in early voting and 6 votes on Election Day for his 35 vote total.
