Three McCulloch County volunteer fire departments, Rochelle VFD, Placid and Brady VFD were summoned on Sunday afternoon to provide mutual aid as part of a strike team to help battle a large wildfire that broke out near Blanket in Brown County. The blaze began around 2:30PM and quickly grew to encompass about 150 acres by 4:45PM. The Texas A&M Forest Service has provided assistance by way of super scooper aircraft and air tankers to help contain the fire. By 8PM on Sunday, the blaze known as the Neighbor Fire was 40% contained and had covered an area of about 200 acres.
