Mason County Livestock Show Ends With 100th Anniversary Champion Drive On The Square

The celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Mason Livestock Show culminted with a return to the tradition of having the Grand Champion Drive held on the Mason Square.

And, it was a resounding success. The weather was perfect. The exhibitors and their animals put on a good show. And, the crowd was large, appreciative and in the spirit of the tradition being observed.

The event was conceived as a salute to Mason’s rich history in agriculture and continued belief in supporting the mission that promotes a safe and educational platform for kids to exhibit livestock and agricultural products while developing valuable life skills in responsibility, competition, financial management and community service.

The 100 Annual Mason Stock Show was held at the Fort Mason Park Community building and will feature cattle, swine, sheep and goats, as well as the Food and Nutrition Show, Eldon Kothmann Memorial Ag Mechanics Show and Fastest Torch contest.

The Grand Champion Drive on the Mason Square followed the preliminary showing of the animals on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion winners were announced on the Square Thursday night.

The Grand Champion Market Steer was exhibited by Della Osbourn, with the Reserve Grand Champion shown by Slaton Nauman.

Exhibitor of the Grand Champion Breeding Heifer was Jarret Worrell, with Kinsley Atchison showing the Reserve Grand Champion.

The Grand Champion Maket Swine was exhibited by Kalen Langehennig, with the Reserve Grand Champion shown by Suttyn Smith.

The exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb was Slaton Nauman, with Bronte Jennings showing the Reserve Grand Champion.

Exhibiting the Grand Champio Market Goat was Cuatro Beaty, with Laila Hatfield showing the Reserve Grand Champion.

The final event of the Annual Show on Friday includes the Food and Nutrition interviews, the Ag Mechanics Contest, the Buyers’ reception and the Annual Premium Sale at 6:00pm at the Fort Mason Park Community Building.
