In response to continuing dry, hot weather conditions and multiple fires in McCulloch, Mason and surrounding counties, both Mason and McCulloch Counties have declared emergencies and implemented Burn Bans for those counties.
On Monday, Mason County Commissioners declared that circumstances present in all or part of the unincorported areas of the County create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdooor burning. Mason County Commissioners isued an order prohibiting all outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the County for 90 days.
On Tuesday, August 18, McCulloch County Judge Frank Trull announced that due to the current forecast for hot, dry weather that would elevate fire conditions he had filed a declaration prohibiting outdoor burning in the County.
On August 24th, McCulloch Commissioners will determine if the Burn Ban will continue.
