Due to continuing dry conditions and weather forecasts calling strong winds and little prospects for rain, Mason County Commissioners voted on Thursday, March 12 to prohibit outdoor burning in the unincorporated area of the County for 90 days, effective March 14th.

The order does prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety such as firefighter  training, gas and pipeline operations , planting and harvesting agricultural crops or prescribe burns.

The use of outdoor grills lifted off the ground are permitted, nor are Bar-B-Que establishments that routinely prepared food outdoors.
