At a Special Meeting Wednesday, McCulloch County Commissioners approved moving Voting Precincts 101 and 103 from the VFW Hall on Memory Lane to the First Baptist Church on West 17th Street. The move will become effective with the Primary Election to be held on March 5th.

At a Commissioners’ meeting last month, Precinct 101 Chairman, Lisa Dodd, cited  issues with the VFW facility, electricity, door and security as reasons for the request to relocate the polling place. County Clerk, Christine Jones, and Dodd were asked by Commissioners to recommend a new site at their next meeting.

Dodd will be guest on KNEL’s Morning Program Thursday at 8:15am to discuss relocating the Precinct 101 and 103 voting place.

In other action, McCulloch Commissioners approved bonds for new 452nd District Clerk, Charla Pitcox, and Assistant Clerk Rena Jones.

Commissioners rejected a bid that had been submitted for re-designing and remodeling the bathrooms at the County Clerk’s and Tax Assessor’s offices. The bid price of $73,000 was, in the opinion of Commissioners, too high. They indicated they will look for ways to lower the overall cost and probably re-bid the project.

Commissioners did accept a bid of just over $14,000 from Blue Commercial Roofing to make repairs to the roof at the County Clerk’s office and the Tax Assessors’ office to eliminate persistent leaks there.
