The McCulloch County Commissioners has a fairly light agenda of items for their regular meeting on Monday morning and began with the approval of the minutes from June 9 and June 16 sessions along with the bills.
Under discussion items, Commissioner Deans requested funds from the special road and bridge funds to repair a number of county roads in Precinct 2 that were damaged by flooding caused by heavy rains earlier this month. The fund currently has a balance of about $300,000.
Under action items, representatives of the McCulloch County Conservation Association spoke on the use of trappers to control invasive species such as feral hogs and coyotes in the county. They are requesting $38,400 from the County for the 2025-26 budget year which will cover one trapper’s salary.
Action was also taken by the commissioners to reject the bid to paint/caulk the exterior of the County Clerk’s Office and to rebid the project in the hopes of securing more bids since only one was submitted previously by Nandin Construction.
Other items approved included a budget line item in the amount of $4,000 for the Clerk’s Office for document preservation, creation of a salary grievance committee for elected officials, the monthly report on library activities for May 2025 and the library’s strategic long range plan for 2025-29. After adjourning the meeting, Commissioner then held a budget workshop. They will also meet next Monday (June 30) for a budget workshop.
The next regular meeting of the McCulloch County Commissioner’s Court will be on July 14 at 9AM.
