McCulloch Comissioners Approve EMS Payment To City Of Brady

McCulloch and Mason County Commissioners’ Courts held their regularly scheduled meetings Monday Morning.

McCulloch County Commissioners began their session with approval of a request by Cental Texas Telephone Cooperative for a road crossing on County Road 323 in Precinct 3.

Following some discussion, Commissioners agreed to an inter-local agreement between the County and the City of Brady for Emergency Medical Services that calls for a payment of $294,000.  The payment represents the County’s share of the cost to provide EMS services to the area and is based on the number of EMS calls made to the County in he 2022-2023 Fiscal Year.

Voting for the measure were Precinct 2 County Commissioner Rand Deans and Precinct 4 Commissioner Don Bratton. Citing some questions about how the County’s share is calculated and emphasizing the need for the process to be more fair, Precinct Commissioner Carol Anderson voted against the agreement.

Commissioners tabledsubmitting an application to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for a County Feral Hog Abatement grant in order for Commissioner Deans to gather more information.

Commissioners also tabled consideration of a 60-day Burn Ban in the County. With the recent rains and forecasts for lower humidity levels, Commissioners decided to reschedule that issue for the first session in August.

Following the adjournment of the regular session, Commissioners moved into a budget workshop.

 

Mason County Commissioners began their meerting  with the hiring and classifying of a full-time Road and Bridge worker, and acceptance of a donation to the Road and Bridge Dept.  Also on the Commissioners’ agenda were salary adjustments for three employee positions and acknowledging the hiring of a part-time Deputy Tax Assessor Collector.

Building a new pump house and the removal of brush at the Airport were also on their agenda.

In addition to holding a budget workshop,  Mason Commissioners voted on publishing proposed increases in the salaries for Elected Officials.
